EP2 - Flexible Endoscopes IPC Reprocessing
The course has been developed by HICMR (Healthcare Infection Control Management Resources) to provide an understanding of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) requirements for reprocessing Flexible Endoscopes and accessories.
Please note, you will need to successfully complete Module EP1: Flexible Endoscopes and Ultrasound Probes IPC Risk Management before completing this Module.
Learning outcomes
This module will provide you with an understanding of the recommended reprocessing procedures for Flexible Endoscopes from an IPC risk management perspective, including:
- risk minimisation
- precleaning of Flexible Endoscopes
- cleaning of Flexible Endoscopes and accessories
- disinfection / sterilisation of Flexible Endoscopes, including Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AERs)
- storage of Flexible Endoscopes, and
- microbiological surveillance of Flexible Endoscopes and AERs.
