EP3 - Ultrasound Probes IPC Reprocessing
The course has been developed by HICMR (Healthcare Infection Control Management Resources) to provide an understanding of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) requirements for reprocessing Intracavity Ultrasound Probes.
Please note, you will need to successfully complete Module EP1: Flexible Endoscopes and Ultrasound Probes IPC Risk Management before completing this Module. In addition you should also have completed Module EP2: Flexible Endoscopes IPC Reprocessing as applicable to your practice.
Learning outcomes
This module will provide you with an understanding of the recommended reprocessing procedures for Intracavity Ultrasound Probes from an IPC risk management perspective, including:
- risk minimisation
- precleaning of Intracavity Ultrasound Probes
- cleaning of Intracavity Ultrasound Probes
- disinfection / sterilisation of Intracavity Ultrasound Probes and
- storage of Intracavity Ultrasound Probes.
