Baby Friendly Health Initiative
The Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) course will introduce the BFHI concept as well as provide a background on WHO and UNICEF in relation to breastfeeding initiatives. Information related to supplementation is also provided.
Course Content
The course features:
- multi-device compatible
- WCAG 2.0 accessibility
- practice and summative assessments, and
- a certificate of completion.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course the participant should be able to:
- Articulate the background to WHO and UNICEF breastfeeding initiatives
- Identify infant and maternal medical conditions requiring supplementation, and
- Provide appropriate care for maternal conditions during which breastfeeding can still continue but where health problems may be of concern.

Target Audience
Any clinical or non-clinical employee of a health institution who is required to have an understanding of breastfeeding practice. This can include non-clinical staff (such as cleaners, cooks etc) through to nurses, midwives, doctors and lactation consultants.
Accreditation
This course has been endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and attracts 1 MidPLUS and 1L CERPs point upon successful completion.
